Enchanted Life
Series: Resurrected
The rise of dis-enchantment
I have a huge respect for science. For all the things it has taught us and allowed us, as humans, to achieve. The world made smaller and information made so freely, often overwhelmingly, available. (Of course, quality information remains a rarity here on the Internet.) In Science’s quest to explain everything in neat little causal chains reduced to the smallest quanta, it has also dis-enchanted the world. Science has learned the child-like sense of wonder right out of us.
But! Science and magick can, and do, coexist. Psychology, for all its maturity, still cannot explain consciousness. A fully scientific approach might never explain it. Physics, on a quantum level, has produced as many new questions as it has answered and has demonstrated many impossible things not so impossible. In the case of quantum mechanics, science has even provided a framework a person could use to explain magick.
Choose enchantment
Magick works, and I don’t feel the need to explain the mechanisms behind it in a tidy, scientific way. I don’t need to. I choose to live an enchanted life. You can too. Find a system that works for you. Sit down with your inner child and rediscover the wonder. Catch a flower in that moment when bud turns to bloom. Cast a circle and feel the energy of the space change. Don’t feel the need to explain your world away. Instead, sit, and allow to universe to explain its wonders to you.
